Let’s start with my name, Tusnelda Maria Svanholmer, I’m 17 years old, and my passion for cycling is indescribable…
My passion for the cycling sport, or the “iron horse” started in March 2012 when I was just 11 years old. I started in Amager Cykle Ring, even though I live in Frederiksberg. I couldn’t choose if it should be on the road or on the track, and if you ask me the same question today, I still can’t answer, I love both riding in circles on the track, and riding on the roads. I enjoy the indoor track cycling life, as well as the changing outdoor bicycling life…
In my career, I’ve won a number of victories in Denmark around the country roads and not least on the bicycle track in Ballerup Super Arena. It has both become to a lot of National Champion & Nordic Champion medals, and victories in all of Denmark’s biggest races.
Now I’m in an age class where I’m racing with and against the best elite women & girls, which I’ve been looking forward to since I started. And there’s no doubt that the competition now has become much harder.
One of the reasons why I love cycling, is because it’s a sport where you really get challenged to the utmost. In order to ride, race strongly and keep winning, you must train targeted almost every single day. I hope that a lot more Danish girls would want to try the bike sport. In Denmark, there are not so many female cyclists, such as abroad, were the girls peloton are almost as big as the boys. I also experienced that in 2016, 2017 and 2018 where I both ran stage races in Sweden, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Italy & Czech republic. Here I learned a lot and also got some good results with me home.
